The title for this piece is a corruption of Mary Oliver's words from her poem, 'How I Go to the Woods'. In the poem, Oliver describes her ritual of taking a walk through the woods alone. She relishes in her solitude, the peace and the quiet and the freedom she feels in unabashedly exhibiting her quirks as she worships the nature around her. The poem ends with the line, "If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love you very much." My interpretation of this line is that if you invite someone else to join you in your world, to know your routines, the places and things you consider sacred--your walking route through the woods--you must love them very much.
This painting is a dedication to that sentiment.
